Living with bipolar disorder
It's never easy living with a disease, especially one that can be difficult to manage in the best Time and bipolar disorder is such a disease. Bipolar disorder affects mood of a patient to a point that to live a â € ~ € ™ normal life can become virtually impossible. Certain characteristics of bipolar disorder are a person who has it incredibly intense episodes â € ~ ™ € highsâ or happiness high and sometimes these episodes may result in mania and extreme behavior. At the other end of the scale of a person with bipolar disorder also suffer from extreme â € ~ € ™ lows where they are swallowed by feelings of depression, guilt, anxiety and may even have suicidal thoughts.
When a person € ™ s mood swings between these two opposites it can make living with bipolar disorder very difficult to manage. In many cases the patient feels as if they were the only person who has to live with bipolar disorder and this may be a trigger in itself. To these times when it is useful to a person with bipolar disorder to have someone to discuss their feelings.
Often, there are between these episodes sense of high and low the person with bipolar disorder may feel quite normal and often times that can cause more problems. That is when a person with bipolar disorder can begin to think they can manage their condition without need medication â € "and some stop taking what has been prescribed for them. This is very dangerous because it can be the trigger for an episode and without medications to control mood of high or low experience can be incredibly intense and difficult to treat effectively and safely.
Another very useful treatment, which is used in addition to medication is psychosocial therapy sessions. These may take the form of a Cognitive behavioral therapy sessions where the therapist and patient try to identify the â € ~ € ™ triggersâ an episode Bipolar and work on ways to overcome and avoid them. Or they may be behavioral family therapy sessions in which the person with bipolar disorder they live and the people involved and try to develop coping strategies for everyone. This type of treatment can be massively successful when there are others involved, as often they are able to identify when a patient is about to have a bipolar episode and can then act accordingly.
One thing is certain, living with bipolar disorder is not easy â € "but it is more realistic than you think. As long a person € ™ s bipolar disorder is under control with proper medication, and any emotional triggers are identified and avoided there is no reason why life can not continue as usual. Problems arise however when the medication is not taken and the person bipolar disorder has an additional problem with alcohol or stimulants, both of which can play an important role in the disease and must be avoided.
