Whats the definition of a history of depression?

I suffered with postnatal depression need antidepressants now i dont think i have a history of depression and I do not think it will occur in depression. Am I wrong and how do you define a history of depression and oh do I declare that I had postnatal depression, when I apply for jobs etc as post-natal depression is nothing like Depression oh shit it happens in 2 pregnancies, and my mother died 1 month ago so your saying that I have to watch just incase I get depression normal?
