There are a few shown in First 3 pages of section 2, on depression, Ezy build, below, decide for yourself. Ask yourself: "Why do I feel depressed, and when I start to feel this way: can I associate this with any recent change in my life? (If so, it probably situational depression: tips, such as cognitive behavioral therapy is indicated). Or is it something more gradual, without apparent cause? (A nutritional deficiency, hypothyroidism, environmental toxicity, or reactions to certain drugs, etc., becomes more likely the cause). antidepressants work faster than the following, 2-6 weeks, but you may need to adjust dosage, or types, whereas St. John's wort is effective for most people, tolerance does not develop, and few side effects do not occur often, and even then are normally not serious. It does not cause sleep problems, or weight change, but usually takes at least 2, and 4 in general – six weeks to become effective, but can work faster as antidepressants, sometimes. A recent, independent German double blind study showed it was as effective as sertraline (marketed USA as Zoloft: a commonly prescribed antidepressant) in cases of major depression, with far fewer side effects, and those generally better tolerated, with dropout rates. Unlike antidepressants, where sexual dysfunction is a common side effect, it happens much more rarely with St. St. John's wort (I have noticed no effect in this area). Remember back to a time when life was full of promise, or one day where you felt particularly good, or possibly excited from a good result. The emotional states are associated with memories, and if it is not major depression, this method can help you. A multidimensional approach to treating depression without medication follows. All except for no. (7.) Are safe to use with drugs, but not St. John's wort, because of interactions, and it is wise to check anything else first with your doctor. (1.) Take 4 Omega 3 fish oil supplements, daily: (certified free of mercury), it is preferable if consumed with an antioxidant, as an orange or grapefruit juice or freshly squeezed. If vitamin E is added, it should be certified as 100% from natural sources, or it may be synthetic: avoid it. In the winter months, replacing two omega 3 with a spoonful coffee oil, cod liver, if it is not sufficient to obtain the daily exposure to bright light (http://www.mercola.com/ SearchBar: enter: "vitamin D"). Also take a vitamin B complex, which is certified as being 100% natural, vitamin deficiency B9 (folic acid or folate) is known to cause depression. Nearly 30% – 40% of depressed people have low levels of vitamin B12. depressed women using the contraceptive pill may benefit from supplements of vitamin B6. ~ ~ ~ (2.) Work slowly until at least 20 minutes minutes of exercise daily, or 30-60 mins, 5 times per week. Too much exercise can cause stress, which is not intended to treat depression. ~ ~ ~ (3.) Occupational Therapy (Keeping busy allows little time for unproductive introspection, and keeps mental activity of the less desirable areas of the brain). (4.) Use daily, a relaxation method * and / or yoga *, and / or Tai Chi. ~ ~ ~ (5.) Initially, at least, some form of advice, preferably cognitive or behavio (u) RAL Therapy, or Rational Emotive behavio (u) RAL Therapy. ~ ~ ~ (6.) Maintain a graphical environment, and the schedule of activities Daily. ~ ~ ~ (7.) With options, if desired, a known effective remedy herbal, like St. John's wort, (get a German variety, if possible, the premises may vary in effectiveness. Take with a meal) or supplements, such as the same, or Inositol (from vitamin and health food stores natural, some supermarkets, or mail: 55 See article). If 5HTP is used to boost serotonin levels (which are low in people depressed), it is preferable to take a diet rich in carbohydrates, protein minimum meal, like pasta, tomato and basil, and avoid proteins for 90 minutes before and after, to maximize the amount crossing the blood-brain barrier. In addition, 80% of people in the western world have low magnesium levels, and these are known to cause depression and anxiety. Try the magnesium supplement types shown http://www.real-depression-help.com/ Some of them will be available in pharmacies or supermarkets. Low levels of calcium and potassium can also cause depression. Do you have blood tests, and correct deficiencies, preferably through improved nutrition. An improvement can be noticed in as little as eight days, if a deficit is the cause. In addition, iodized salt is much preferable to regular salt (one of the treatments in books on depression is iodine drops). Try to imagine, as nearly as possible a time in the not too distant future, when you have to overcome this temporary setback, and things are much better. * See section 2, on the first 3 pages and also pages R, C, I, and Article 11, http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/ ~ Shaneris
