depression statistics

What levels of depression for different countries?
Which country has the highest level of depression, or at least, where can I find statistics? And more specifically, does Australia have one of the highest levels of depression?
I do not really know precise figures, unfortunately. However, I would say that even if you got that figure may not reflect the number of people suffering from depression in a country simply because awareness of depression and recognition as a medical problem varies so much across cultures. I would say that you would get a number high people in the United States diagnosed with depression, but it would at least partly because people are more aware and a set of cases was made the profession of mental health there and in several other "developed" countries, including Australia. But yes, basically I am not sure of exact figures, but I do not think they will give a fair representation of levels of depression worldwide.
