What is an effective remedy against chronic insomnia?

I have trouble falling asleep, waking several times during the night but usually get back to sleep fairly quickly. And I wake up around 4 or 5 hours – and this is the hardest time of all to go back to sleep. I feel exhausted the next day – so I really need more sleep than I get. Yes – I have something on my mind and my thoughts often exceed my desire to sleep.

NO caffeine or sugary foods 5 hours. before bedtime. Take a hot bath. Some sleep disorders have need a special light to shine on them for an hour first thing every am!
